My Goals for Twenty-Fourteen

I have a love hate relationship with New Years.
The reason I don't like it when New Years rolls around is because it's a huge reminder of how fast time is flying by. I am not a fan of how fast time seems to be flying by. Not.At.All.
But I do like New Years because of the feeling that we get of having a new slate. New beginnings. A whole year to look forward to, full of hope and dreams.

Last night, while I was laying in bed, I decided to write down and  make a list of my goals for this coming year. I ended up with a note-book piece of paper full of ideas.
No pressure, right?
Even with so many dreams for this year, I feel like it's a "do-able" list, at least most of it.

So, without further a-do, my goals for this coming year:

~For This Blog~
  • Post twice a week. I realize this won't always happen, but I still want to try and make it a habit-try and make a blogging routine.
~Spiritually~
  •  Read God's Word daily. I use to have a regular quiet time with my Father but somehow, along the way that time has gotten pushed to the back burner. Well, I want it back. Desperately.
  • Memorize one verse a week. I think I may post the verse of  the week on the side bar as a kind of accountability tool. Hope ya'll don't mind. *wink*
  • Have more specific prayer times. Just me and my Savior, one-on-one.
  • Go on at least one mission trip. It didn't seem to be the Lord's will for me to go on mission trip in 2013, but I want to get back in the mind set. Get back in those kind of situations. It's a huge part of my heart.
~For My Life~
  • Read more. I didn't read for fun nearly as much as I wanted to in 2013.
  • Sew more. It's one of those things that I "just don't have time for...."
  • Sharpen my homemaking skills. Mommy-daughter time!  *smiles*
  • Research and use all-natural beauty products. Not limited to homemade mousse, lotion, deodorant.  Using activated charcoal and shea butter.
  • Workout more. Hopefully 5x a week. Again, I know this won't happen all the time, but I still want to try.
  • Get our hobby farm up and running the way it should be. You may hear more about that later....
  • Take more photos. All too often I don't take the time to stop and capture that special moment. I want to change that this year. You can see some of my work on my photography blog.
  • Sharpen my photography skills. Especially in the portraits department.
  • Work on my room. I want to make my small room an efficient oasis. It needs to work as my craft and inspiration room, office and sleeping quarters. It's proving to be quite difficult. Difficult, but not impossible.

So yeah. It's a lot. But I think it all is worth trying to do.
I hope you'll join me this year. I have no doubt it will be a worth-while adventure!  *smile*

So tell me, what are your resolutions and goals for 2014?

Wearables: 2013 Green & White Easter Dress

Hey ya’ll!
I know what you’re thinking…. “Two posts in a couple of days?! What is this?!” ;)
I wanted to show ya’ll the dress I wore for Easter this year (and wore again last Sunday).
I really like the dress; it’s fairly comfortable, it’s of nice quality, it’s cute and I got a steal-of-a-deal on it. I found the dress
like-new at my local Goodwill thrift store. I’m pretty sure it still had the tags on it and the tag said it was retailed at about $50, but truthfully, I can’t remember. Either way I got a good deal on it seeming how it was under 10 bucks for it. :D
I *love* finding deals, so I highly recommend you looking at your local thrift store for some good deals. Find out when they mark down the clothes and go then.
I know Goodwill marks down clothes weekly by their tag color.
I’m not sure if each individual Goodwill store has a different day of the week in which they choose to change the “color of the week”, but I’m sure if you ask a teller they would be glad to tell you.
The Salvation Army thrift stores have a 50% off sale on clothes once a week. I’ve heard from different places that the sale on is on Wednesdays and I’ve also heard Fridays. It probably depends on the store. I haven’t been to one in a while to confirm which it is (although I think my local store does their sale on Wednesdays) so I would recommend you checking with your local store before you get your shopping cart full. ;)
I can’t wait to check out their sales sometime soon! :) Plus the money is going to a good cause so that’s just the cherry on top! ;)
I’ve also heard that at Union Mission thrift stores you can get a brown paper bag full of clothes for $5 each on sale dates.
I would encourage you to check them out too! :)

So without further ado, here’s my deal:

There’s probably only one thing I don’t like about this dress, I don’t know if it was made for a shorter person or what, but it’s like where your hips are supposed to go-that part falls too high on me so it’s more like at my waist…. I thought about sewing it to try and fix it, but I’m too afraid I’ll mess it up. Lol
Maybe one day I’ll get the gall up to try it. ;)

I paired the dress with my black heals I got for prom last year.
Black shoes go with everything right?! ;)

Dress: Goodwill >$10
Necklace: Goodwill, $1.25
Shoes: Payless

Shout out to my wonderful brother that was willing to take the pictures of me in the last couple of posts. Thanks! I appreciate it! :D

So, tell me, what did your Easter outfit consist of?
Did you wear something very fancy? Or did you go for more of the casual style?

Can’t wait to hear from you!
Many blessings,
Kelly

I'm back! Wearables: Green Shirt & Brown Skirt

Hey Ya'll!
Yeah I'm finally back. I know it's been a while since I've posted...
Things have been crazy busy lately, but thankfully it's been mostly good crazy. :)

I don't want to bore you to death with all the details but I just want to mention a couple of the "big" things...chicks have hatched, we bought a new puppy (pictures to come :D), I'm turning 18 this month and I'm getting ready for my graduation that is in less than a month! Yaaaaayyyyyyyy! :D
Hahaha I'm quite excited if you can't tell. ;)
We are trying to get all the details worked out, but time is moving way too fast.
I just can't believe how time is flying....

But anyway, on to the outfit. :)

I actually wore this outfit a week ago Sunday and have been trying post it for about a week but I haven't had time. :/
I'll post what I wore last Sunday tomorrow, Lord willing.

I really like this outfit for a couple of reasons: the shirt is comfy, a bright springy green and it was a gift from my best
friend. ^_^ (The Lord has blessed me with such great friends!)
The skirt is also comfy and it's the perfect length for Spring and Summer.

The shirt is made out of a sheer material so I had to wear a cami underneath of it.
But all in all I really like the outfit. :)

Shirt: Cato, gift
Skirt: Reversable skirt, Goodwill thrift store
Cami: New from Goodwill

I'm hoping to start posting more regularly soon. Oh, and don't fret if you see some changes with my blog, I am going to be working on some changes to my background and header (which I can't wait to hear your opinion on ;)).

So what are some of your favorite spring outfits to wear?
I can't wait to hear from you!
Many blessings,
Kelly

*Wearables*: Black Floral w/ Jeans

Well, I didn't do a very good job with my first challenge, did I?
Nevertheless, I did want to show you my outfit on the last day of The Best Foot Forward Challenge.

I found this shirt at Wal-Mart for $5, with it being on sale and me loving the floral print, I ended up getting it. I'm very particular with floral designs, I don't like the ones that when you look at them, they slap you in the face. And I don't like the ones that remind you of what your grandmother would wear (unless you have a really cool grandma ;)).

But I'm very satisfied with this shirt, it has definitely made my "favorites" list. :)

Again, I apologize for the horrid, bathroom-self-portraits.
It really was the best I could do at the end of the day...

Here's a picture of the fabric close up. :)

So, what do you think?

Btw, I was able to find this shirt and another shirt on sale for $5, and I was also able to find a fancy tank-top-like shirt on sale for $2! (I'll probably wear something over-top of it for modesty reasons, but still, that's a good deal! :D)
So If you are looking for some new clothes, I would recommend you head over to your local Wal-Mart and browse through what they have. You may be blessed and find some good deals. :)

Stay tuned for what's coming up next!
I have a couple of ideas that I'm really excited about. :D
And don't forget to tell your friends about my 'lil corner! ;)

Many Blessings,
Kelly
